Fraud and Waste HotlineStrengthening our commitment to integrityAs part of the City’s ongoing efforts to support the high level of integrity of our workplace and our employees, and to protect City property, resources and information, City Council initiated and approved a fraud policy in July 2005 including the establishment of a Fraud and Waste Hotline. This initiative reflects the City’s proactive efforts to ensure and demonstrate our commitment to corporate accountability, transparency, responsibility, and sound and ethical operating practices. As part of the City’s policies, City employees must report all suspected or witnessed cases of fraud or waste to the Auditor General via a confidential and anonymous Fraud and Waste Hotline. In February 2009, Council directed the expansion of the Fraud and Waste Hotline to provide access to members of the public. The Fraud and Waste Hotline is a confidential and anonymous service that allows you to report incidents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Hotline is operated independently by a third party and is accessible by phone or Internet. The Auditor General will review each reported case and, if necessary, launch an investigation.
