Councillor Doug Thompson

Ward 20 Osgoode

In November of 2000, residents elected the first council of the newly amalgamated City of Ottawa. Local residents of Osgoode Ward chose Doug Thompson to represent them as one of the 22 council members of the new City of Ottawa. This large south-east rural ward encompasses several different communities and villages including Edwards, Greely, Enniskerry, Kenmore, Osgoode, Marionville, Marvelville, Metcalfe, and Vernon. Osgoode Ward is home to about 21,500 residents and a large variety of businesses and organizations.

• Graduated from Carleton University, in Ottawa, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science.
• Elementary School teacher for 35 years.
• Coached minor hockey and baseball.
• Resident of Osgoode Township since 1967.
• Served as Councillor for the Township of Osgoode for 14 years during which time he was a member of every Municipal Committee and Community Board.
• Mayor of Township of Osgoode for three years (December 1, 1997 to December 31, 2000).
• November 2000 was elected to the new City of Ottawa Council as Councillor for Ward 20, which came into effect on January 1, 2001.
• November 2003 acclaimed as Councillor for Osgoode Ward and re-elected in November 2006 with the highest percentage vote of any City Councillor.
• Family includes: Jason -children Brett and Dana; Jarrett (Erin) - children Tristan and Will; Ryan (Cathy); Angela (Dan); as well as Mary Lynne’s daughters; Shelley; Jody (Andre) child Avery.
• Councillor Doug Thompson continues to dedicate his efforts to the interest of Osgoode Ward Residents and the City as a whole. Doug and his wife, Mary Lynne, are always delighted to attend local events and celebrations. Call with your details for them to attend your event.
