Old Ottawa South Area Traffic Management

The City of Ottawa is conducting an area traffic management study to examine traffic concerns within the neighbourhood of Old Ottawa South Community. The study area includes the area bounded by Bronson Avenue, the Rideau Canal, Bank Street, and the Rideau River. The objective of this study is to develop a comprehensive area traffic management plan, in accordance with the City's ATM Guidelines, for the Old Ottawa South to address traffic concerns raised by the Old Ottawa South Community Association (OSCA) and members of the public.

The study team recently presented draft concept plans (including a preferred concept) to the public at an open house held on April 7, 2011. The draft concepts presented were developed through an iterative process involving staff and members of the Public Working Group (PWG). These concepts were circulated for an initial technical review before being presented to the public. We are still in the process of collecting feedback on these draft concepts and invite your comments. We will be accepting new comments until Thursday May 12, 2011. Following this date, staff will review all comments and determine where adjustments are appropriate.

To view all materials presented at the two public open houses (including the draft concepts), please select the display board menu links located in the left margin of this page.

Public Consultation - Summary of Open House Activities

The first Public Open House (POH) for this study was held on April 28, 2010. The aim of this open house was to share the study area characteristics and key findings from the collected data, solicit input and feedback on the key issues within the primary study area, identify measures that hold promise, and confirm evaluation factors. (Open House No. 1 Display Boards).

A supplemental public meeting was held by the OSCA to provide a second opportunity for members of the community to provide input into the study. This meeting was held in mid-September 2010 in which City staff and the project consultant were available to receive questions and additional input.

A second POH was held on Thursday April 7, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Southminster United Church located at 7 Galt Street. The purpose of this meeting was to present study information to date, the draft concept plans (including a preferred plan), and solicit input from members of the public.
