Primrose Park - Revised Concept Redevelopment Plan

The City of Ottawa will be redeveloping Primrose Park and Chaudière Park in 2012, in order to better serve the needs of the changing and growing community these two parks serve.

A public meeting was held on November 22nd, 2011 to present preliminary concept plans for the redevelopment of these two neighbourhood parks for the community’s review and input. Following the public meeting, the concept plans were posted on the City’s Website for further community review and input. Comments received from the public meeting and web posting have been taken into consideration in the preparation of revised concept plans for both parks.

The revised Chaudière Park concept plan is currently posted on this Website. A Revised Primrose Park Concept Plan (PDF) has been completed and is attached. The revised Primrose Park concept proposes a new school-age play area, a new splash pad, a new park entrance and shaded sitting area, a new wood shade shelter/stage, as well as upgraded pathways, park furniture and lighting. The revised plan reflects a natural landscape concept, respectful of existing vegetation, materials and landform. The revised plan also proposes a balance between off-leash dog use (2/3 of the park area) and non-dog use (1/3 of the park area), yet retains existing open views, pedestrian flows and current winter activities in the park.

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department welcome your comments on the revised Chaudière Park concept plan. Your input will help us finalise the plan for implementation.
