Injuries are the leading cause of death for Canadians between the ages of 1 and 44 and the fourth leading cause of death for Canadians of all ages.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service is committed to providing residents of Ottawa with the knowledge and skill to prevent injuries and handle emergency situations. The service is involved in four major initiatives:

  • Mass CPR and AED Training – CPR training teaches you how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitationand how to manage choking emergencies. The automatic external defibrillation components teach you how to safely deliver a life-saving shock to a patient.

  • First Aid Training Program - The purpose of First Aid is to provide emergency and supportive care to a person in the event of an emergency.

  • Paramedic Public Access Defibrillator Program – This program help facilities and workplaces develop and operate their own PAD Program.

  • Prevention and Awareness – this initiative will provide residents of Ottawa with the knowledge and skills to prevent injury.
